For some reason the split by polling district option isn't showing up for me? EDIT: never mind, I've got it, for London at least It only appears if you select a ward with PD boundary data. Although the list said most metropolitan boroughs and the video showed Leeds but I don't have it for those

It only appears if you select a ward with PD boundary data. Although the list said most metropolitan boroughs and the video showed Leeds but I don't have it for those The new release provides two methods for splitting wards. The first method splits by polling district and is available for London and Met boroughs which have not had a full ward review since 2015. Leeds has had a full ward review since 2015 so is not available via this method (unless you create a plan using 2015 instead of 2019 electorates). The second method is to manually split a ward by drawing a shape to clip part of the ward and estimate the electorate for each split part. This is available for all wards and the example uses Leeds to demonstrate this method.

I don't really want to get in to the business of accepting lots of different data sets from different sources, in different formats. That it is a bit too much like my day job. I know that some of the post-2015 polling district boundaries are available online, including those for Sheffield, but do you have the parliamentary electorate figures for these polling districts? Export from EARS Connect by polling district filtered by "entitlement=Parliament", or go to the local library. Somebody will undoubtly tell me off for exporting total electorate figures from Connect. Y'know, public data available publically at the public library. fwiw what is Connect? There are so many things called Connect that googling it is difficult.

I wasn't aware "MiniVAN" only referred to the app and not the database - I remember it being used often back when I was in the Lib Dems.

When using the all England wards plan there are 1914 unassigned electors left over. I can't seem to find which ward they belong to. Any clues?

The website is being moved to a new server tomorrow (Saturday 22nd August), so may be unavailable for a couple of hours after 08:00.

The census statistics aren't working for me, every time I click on a region, ward or statistic I get a box saying "undefined" and it doesn't do anything else.

It does appear to be a result of the server upgrade and also affects saving and exporting plans in Plan Builder. It could take a while to fix this time.

Boundary Assistant is currently malfunctioning-the wards will show up but the option to highlight borders of local authorities and parliamentary constituencies is nonfunctional at the moment.
I hope this problem will be fixed in time for the new electoral figures that will be released by the ONS on 5 January 2021.

There was an issue with loading the Google background mapping yesterday, but this should be fixed now. You may need to press Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+R (MacOS) to force a full refresh of the Plan Builder page.

Will Boundary Assistant be updated with the data released today?

Will Boundary Assistant be updated with the data released today? LOL, no. It takes a while to check the data, there are always a number of errors and discrepancies, some of which take a while to fix. Then the data has to be linked to the latest Ordnance Survey boundary files and uploaded to the server. Expect about 7-10 days for most English regions to be updated. London & Wales may take a little longer and we don't have ward level data for Scotland or Northern Ireland yet. Also note that the ward electorates for several London Boroughs and English Unitaries are not yet available for the 2021/2022 boundaries that will be used in the review. The BCE website rather vaguely says these will be available in the Spring. I will update this thread as regions and countries are added.

I've just realised my last post was slightly ambiguous; I meant "the data that was released today", not that I was expecting to have the update today!

we don't have ward level data for Scotland or Northern Ireland yet This looks like the NI ward-level data hereHi Matt, welcome to the forum. The issue with the monthly EONI electorate data is that the Westminster Parliament electorates are only given for the obsolete wards that the current constituencies were constructed from. These wards date back to 1995 and were replaced in 2011 by an entirely new set of wards for the 11 enlarged councils. EONI only provide local government electorates for the current wards. A request from one of my NI contacts to produce Westminster electorates for current wards was rejected, but they will have to do so at some point for the 2023 review.
