Me. Mr D would have to have the approval of the LDs to join. That might not be forthcoming!!! Tony I should be clear - "country" = Yorkshire. No MP in Rochdale is going to join Lib Dems. When Peter Rush left you, it really was the sign that the Lib Dems have no real future in the borough, let alone the constituency (I know Peter isn't a councillor in the constituency, but you get the point).

It's now pretty clear why Rush left. It has just been announced that he has been appointed to three bodies. By my reckoning that's 10 pieces of silver each.

I quite like Cale Green. I knew the area very well. One of my School friends lived there. My mother had a small factory in neighbouring Heaviley just around the corner from Davenport Village. I suspect the area has improved over the last 40 years even when Owen Jones was growing up there.

I don't know if this goes here or that we mention forum defections. Anyhow after Nigel's announcement of setting up a separate no campaign for the referendum it was the final nail in the coffin for my support for him and UKIP. To win this important referendum the no campaign had to show a united front and cross party team work was required. Nigel does not seem interested in team work but about what's best for team Nigel. I am very much on the right of British politics however since winning the budget I am very happy with what the conservatives are doing and people like armchair and Neilm in the party it is a place I can feel at home in. Today I announce my resignation as a UKIP member and my return to the conservative party. You do realise that no political party can apply to be the official designated Leave vote organisation and with it collect whatever allocated funding that comes with that do you? That has to be applied for by a separate organisation. UKIP has to have it's own campaign, I'm not aware that they have said that they won't be working or liasing with other organisations.

I'd take you more seriously if you didn't have such a bloody stupid profile picture. Triggered by a picture.

What's it called when you can't tell the difference between expressing a dislike for something, and being "triggered" by it? Is it some kind of communicable disease? I say that, it's obviously not sexually transmitted.

I say that, it's obviously not sexually transmitted. If you dislike something, you dislike it. We all dislike things. We might even express our dislike to others. If you're triggered by something, it’s generally a) something harmless but which b) triggers an irrational reaction, like calling for the particular sentiment to be censored, or calling for the person who expressed it to be censored or henceforth banned from a forum, or otherwise overreacting, or otherwise being (or, more likely, pretending to be) offended. Not liking a picture of Esther McVey is dislike; saying you could never take seriously someone who had a picture of her in their profile is hysterical overreaction, ergo is being triggered. If someone said Hitler was bad, would we not take them seriously because of a picture of Esther McVey adjacent to the comment? Would we automatically rule anything they said unbelievable? That's an irrational reaction.

What's it called when you can't tell the difference between expressing a dislike for something, and being "triggered" by it? I think it's called "Being a student activist".
