It is quite funny that so many people worried that Haider was a Hitler in the making, when he was definitely more of a Roehm. I would refer the Hon Gentleman to the order of the Landesgerichtes für Zivilsachen in Graz, which to protect the privacy of the beard wife specifically bans more direct references of that nature to the late Dr. Haider with fines of potentially up to 100,000€. Besides, wasn't Röhm a top? Oh, in that case, I was clearly implying that Haider was more likely to provide advice to the government of Bolivia than to become the genocidal dictator of Germany...

I hate to say it, but a FPOe-NEOS coalition, whilst never going to happen after all that went before, would be an incredible breath of fresh air for Austria.
Intriguingly (Austrian political fact fans!), Norbert Steger is still a FPOe member.

ORF exit poll OVP 27.1(5 seats) SPO 23.8 (5) FPÖ 20.1 (4) Greens 14.6 (3) NEOS 8.3 (1) That's a very slim majority of the votes for Team Proporz. Here's hoping it's even less when it comes out in the wash.

Final Result: OVP | 27.0% | -3.0% | 5 seats | -1 | EPP | SPO | 24.1% | +0.4% | 5 seats | nc | S&D | FPO | 19.7% | +7.0% | 4 seats | +2 | EAF | Greens | 14.5% | +4.6% | 3 seats | +1 | EGP | NEOS | 8.1% | +8.1% | 1 seat | +1 | ALDE | BZO | 0.5% | -4.1% | 0 seats | -1 | none |
Hans Peter Martin's list with 3 seats from 2009 did not feature at all. A Strong showing from FPO as predicted, NEOS made the cut comfortably but didn't do as well as it looked like they might and the Greens did a bit better overall.
