I am not sure the share of the total vote says much. But the proportion of the voters that voted for the poll toppers is quite impressive.
957/1046 = 91% 204/242 = 84%

A short clip here of people queuing at the polling station together with a clip of Michael Poole talking about the election.

You seem to have a strange understanding of what percentages are supposed to be. I'm not sure what you mean by that but if you are referring to erlend's point that it would be more helpful to have the percentage of voters who voted for each candidate rather than the percentage of votes they each got I will do that.

Thank you Devonian. For me ar least that is more meaningful.
To be fair to you I hav seencouncils that published results in the other way. In the context of party contests it is more obvious but in the non party election here it is I think more helpful in your latest posts.

Weird how there is no deviation from a standard British accent in any way. Listen very very carefully to the Sharon Halford video. It sounds almost like very posh 'Anglo' South African to me. When my uncle visited the Falkland Islands, he said he found that a lot of the 'ordinary' people (i.e. those that didn't go to school/college/university in Britain) have a sort of hard-to-place 'Southern Hemisphere' type of accent.

I see what you mean. I would definitely say more like New Zealand than South Africa though.

I notice the mysterious appearance of a candidate whose name was not listed in the original notice of election. This explains the statement that there were eleven candidates, although only ten names were listed. Presumably it was a simple typographical error on the original notice.

There is a very marked accent in Gibraltar (which I occasionally adopt along with some other local peculiarities) and the same goes for the other OTs. There don't seem to be many Spanish words in use there either- I'm not expecting the Falklanders to converse in something like Llanito but I assumed they would have some words in use. I was disabused of this when I met some Falklanders at an event for people with links to the Overseas Territories.
