Interesting that there is no Independent candidate in East Lindsey. The East Lindsey Independent Group seems to have a strange semi-organised structure; it exists as a group on the council, has a common policy, and negotiates for its share of power, but it doesn't (at least any longer) organise in wards and parishes to find allies and coordinate election strategies. They are still registered with the Electoral Commission.

I can only guess that they didn't realise it was a by-election and assumed the whole council was up for election?

I can only guess that they didn't realise it was a by-election and assumed the whole council was up for election? Nope , 5 nominations were rejected because consent to nomination had not been given and 4 because the proposer/seconder had already nominated someone else . Most of those who had been rejected for non consent had in turn nominated someone else without their consent . The one valid nomination is probably an accident as her proposer/seconder also nominated her husband but her nomination was accepted first .

Pery veculiar... but anyway, if only one candidate was validly nominated, why doesn't the notice also say that she has already been elected [unopposed]?
