Pete has mentioned it before (in shame?). There was some reason (like knowing the candidate but I'm not sure).

I have voted Conservative at every opportunity since the age of 18. I was disinfranchised at 19 because Dad failed to fill in the electoral registration form when we moved house, much to my fury (thankfully my favoured candidate managed to win that May without me). I gave my second preference to the Indy in West Yorkshire's PCC election.
Yes, the LibDem candidate in question was a close friend of Pete's, if I recall correctly. Which begs another question (a potential poll question): would you vote for your own mother if she were to stand for a party you despise?

Conservative (Oxford City Council election, 2000) UKIP (European election, 2004) Lib Dem (Chorleywood Parish Council election, 2010).
I have only ever voted for a non-Conservative candidate/list while I was a member of the Conservative party (including in 2010, one of the candidates!).

This has been done a few times in the old place Suffice to say that I have voted Labour on every available occasion since I first had a vote in May 1985 - with the sole exception of (when else?) May 1 1997 when I supported the LibDem in the concurrent CC elections (for similar reasons to Pete) Have been tempted to vote Green a few times - most recently in the 2009 European elections when even a loyalist like myself was highly hacked off with Labour - but have never quite managed it

I first voted (yes) in the eu referendum in 77 or whenever it was and have voted Liberal or Lib Dem in every possible election since, whith the exception of the locals in 85, when there was no Liberal candidate, when I spoiled my ballot.

1975 Which just shows how weird memory is. I have a clear recollection of first ever voting in a portacabin affair in Heath Park, which would have meant I was living in the halls at the UHW at the time, making it 77 or later. This is obviously an entirely false memory as in 75 I was in Arrabella Street in Roath Park. But as its nearly 40 years ago, and a lot of beer has passed over the teeth since then, so I won't feel too bad about it
