As reported in the Mansfield GE thread, Ben Bradley (the former MP for Mansfield and up until now leader of the Nottinghamshire Council Council) has applied to be the Conservative candidate.

A dim politician for a dim idea of an authority.
Are they abolishing the districts or are they whacking a 4th (!) layer of local government onto the people of the fens?

Also, the threat is misnamed, it's called "Greater Lincolnshire". Please do not throw any rotten food at me, I'm merely the messenger.

What kind of nonsense is this? Are they abolishing the districts? No, just creating a mayor, similar to the situation in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.

Is this Reform's best prospect? I think I'm right i saying that Lincs had the highest Leave vote of anywhere in the UK

Is this Reform's best prospect? I think I'm right i saying that Lincs had the highest Leave vote of anywhere in the UK Possibly but the Tories have a high floor here. Reform's best chances are probably in places where it's viable for them to win with 30% of the vote over a split opposition.

Is this Reform's best prospect? I think I'm right i saying that Lincs had the highest Leave vote of anywhere in the UK I could see Bradley losing here. I can also see Tories winning. As others have said, they have a core vote. Labour's vote may drop due to the farming issue. This is a big area geographically with lots of agricultural places. It depends how well Reform targets it, and who they take votes from.

Labour's vote is already pretty low in most farming areas.

Labour's vote is already pretty low in most farming areas. Yes, I'm trying to avoid single-factor determinism here. The Greens could also pick up some votes in Lincoln too. It has a. growing university.

To me, this is the biggest test for Reform. If they can't win a mayoral election, they should pack up. Even the Lib Dems have won a mayoralty before and came reasonably close in a second. I also think the Greens should have a jolly good go at the West of England mayoral race - it's an open seat.

Grimsby Town FC owner and chairman Jason Stockwood has been picked as Labour candidate.
