I notice Sir John Major made a rare public endorsement of Caroline Nokes here.

Is it possible Noakes may end up defecting to the Lib Dems? Her result is rather better than most of their target seats. If the right takes control of the party tbh I think there's a decent possibility.

There's not much love lost between Noakes and the local LibDems. But the Party will need to do a lot of thinking between now and the autumn to work out what the role of the 70+ MPs is going to be. There's a massive opportunity, but many ways to screw it up.

But alternatively, what is her future and those like her if on reaction, the Tory party reaches out to Reform and attempts to "unite the right"?

I very much doubt that Mrs Nokes would defect to the LDs, there's absolutely no love lost between her the the LDs.
