The new MP here may not be The Pub Landlord but he is a pub landlord.

He doesn’t appear to run the pub though. Apparently before entering parliament he was a social housing manager. My favourite pub in the whole world is in this constituency, in Aldworth, and I would recommend it to anyone here. Profoundly beautiful place.

Allan Roberts, the MP for Bootle, won a libel case, (the Scum!) and bought a gay pub in London!

I have been using it for over 40 years but since 2020 my visits have been sadly infrequent. I am determined to go before the year is out. The family members know me in there, and Heather I have known since 1982.

I visited the pub during that time. I expected to see Tory posters in the village, but the only poster was remarkably a Labour one. I was told a Labour County Councillor (the County Council still existed at that time) for a Reading ward lived in the village & it was her house. Saw loads of LD posters in Woolhampton on the A4.

The Bell is a glorious pub, a glimpse of a quieter age.
