It is my task to learn all the many new MPs but this one’s name will be very easy to remember. The Speaker could probably use your help!

I must be the only person to have not personally met him but associate his name primarily with him rather than the painter, as my mother worked with a close relative of his and during the campaign frequently reminded me of that fact.

If she had behaved like Jeremy Hunt and reminded people why they liked her far more than the national party, then she would have been the favourite though the swing would have still been heavily against her. Tania Mathias did well to pitch herself as a worthy successor to Theresa May, but I suspect as with everywhere else people were no longer receptive to that with a new candidate that they had to learn about.

It is my task to learn all the many new MPs but this one’s name will be very easy to remember. I think there are 334 new MPs this time, compared with the usual 100-200. I guess for the first few weeks there might be a bit of new MPs being asked to give their name when they are called to speak, so that the Speaker will take a bit longer to remember everybody's names.

What a result! The Tories lost here because it's now just plain old Maidenhead, rather than Theresa Maydenhead. I would like a concert here for Iron Maidenhead. I want Mr & Mrs Brasier to have named their daughter May rather than Theresa, so her married name would have been May May. There may have been newspaper headlines about "Will the PM call an early election? May May may".

Appropriately enough for this thread, that's an awful lot of maiden speeches to get through.

There are some retreads, so not all of them will be giving maiden speeches. Unless the 334 is entirely new MPs, not including the Alexanders, Tessa Munt etc.

John Betjeman didn't have great things to to say about Maidenhead either, IIRC.
