Ivana Forman is connected to Kathryn Attwood in West - another anti-abortion activist. I've got a slight feeling I encountered her in 2005 or 2010 when I was standing for the LibDems. I probably shouldn't say on a public forum what I thought. John Greenshields and Frank Ward I know nothing of. Lionel Harman, the RefUK candidate, is a former Conservative councillor and Mayor of course. Not terribly surprised he's ended up with them.

Of all the places for an anti-abortion activist to stand...they will be lucky to get 200 votes in my opinion. That battle was lost many years ago and it should be abundantly clear by now that first and foremost the key reason why abortions occur is a lack of resources and/or time to raise a child/another child (as applicable), especially with childcare and housing costs being at a record high.

There seems to a common theme of poorly thought out right wing candidacies in the seats along this stretch of the South Coast. Didn't the Tories stand some nutcase in Hove against Peter Kyle recently?

Their days of being able to compete in that constituency are gone.

True, but it doesn't reflect well on the quality of the party in seats where they do have a chance - especially given that Sussex is an area where a lot of safeish Labour seats closely abut traditionally blue rinse downlands and small towns. The Conservative Party of the past would have paid attention to some form of keeping up appearances, at least.

It turns out I do know the Independent, Frank Ward, a bit - I've met him a couple of times when we've been walking our respective dogs, and chatted a little. I realise this now because he knocked on my door last night, and wanted to pick my brains about campaigning (he ws under the impression one of my campaigns had been as an Independent). I have agreed to meet up for a dog walk and a chat sometime this week. My first tip might be 'don't start asking for advice about campaigning halfway through the campaign'. I will try and find out his issues for you, and report back.

Hopefully the law deals with this in the appropriate manner.

Unusual nowadays.

I will post it, and the one from the anti-abortion indie, later when I get a chance.

I had a Labour-supporting friend (she might even be a member?) who lives in EW&S in the shop today. She was bemoaning the fact that she has seen no evidence of canvassing effort by Labour in her area of Offington. She's also rather peeved that she has contacted Tom Rutland by several channels, and had no response to any of them.

Ah bless another totally idle bloody voter who thinks the small number of volunteers are slacking on the job. Entitled useless piece of work or wot?

Generally I agree with you - but if Labour only have a small number of workers in EW&S, then that doesn't bode too well for them. Myself, I suspect that they're working the Adur part, but I think that would be a (smallish) mistake.
