If it's "jobs for the boys" does that mean Izzard is, or isn't, eligible? What if it’s an all-woman shortlist??

Speaking from a very narrow perspective of interest, what impact does anyone think this might have on the chances of Labour taking Pavilion? I could see activists who would be out knocking on doors getting disenchanted and downing tools; attention being diverted to here rather than Pavilion based on the new candidate; and coverage in local media not being positive. But I might be viewing it through a very partisan lens. Any thoughts?

Nobody is going to stop working in Pavilion and start working here instead. The Tories are not strong enough to win the seat.

There haven't been any All-Women Shortlists this Parliament as the PLP was already 50% female after the 2019 election, so they would be on questionable legal grounds.

It's impossible to quantify, but I hardly think in can be helpful for Labour

Did Labour select a candidate in Pavilion?

It's impossible to quantify, but I hardly think in can be helpful for Labour probably right. But before this the Greens were favourites in Pavilion, and Labour in Kemptown. That hasn’t changed overall

It would be bizarre to think that having got rid of one clownish candidate, Starmer would replace him with a another in the form of Eddie Izzard. The idea being that Labour is supposed to have changed into a serious party.

Probably not a bad fit for a seat like this. Come on! He would be a very bad fit anywhere, says I who would desperately love to see him adopted there of course.

That is what I’d heard from my local party source. My original post on this made the point that the complaint appeared not to stem from an angle normally associated with the party’s right.

So it was someone who was angry with Russel Moyle being a good soldier or a credible accuser?
