Largan does strike me as one of the more effective and likeable members of the 2019 Conservative intake but I'm not convinced that will be enough to hold this.

Does the picture cross the line? I suppose you could argue it looks like the Labour Party have endorsed Largan which they obviously have not done. However, the accompanying tweet is clear it’s Labour voters who are supposedly backing him, it’s “for Largan’ so doesn’t make it sound like he’s a Labour member, and importantly it carries the Conservative imprint in the bottom left corner.

Now reported to the Police for election fraud. In other words, there are a number of stupid self-important people who don’t understand how election law works and who think it’s clever to waste police time i.e. significantly more stupid than the design of the image itself

At first glance it looked like he had defected. The imprint is in the tiniest font. Any constituents on here who may have received a leaflet? It would be really egregious if he issued red leaflets, apparently he's already known for using green instead of blue in any case.

Absolutely, for every wavering Labour leaning voter he thinks he might attract with this, he could lose at least one dyed-in-the-wool Tory, and despite the polls there will still be many of them around in such a rural constituency. If this was say Leigh or Heywood & Middleton I’d understand.

Pulling stunts like that one ought to result in him being disqualified for electoral fraud. No it shouldn’t, because it has the necessary imprint. Tightening the law to define it as fraud would mean having the law micromanaging the design, colour and wording of leaflets to an intolerable and unenforceable degree.

Parties do not have any intellectual property rights over a colour (unless it's a specific shade that they have created, or who somebody else has created and sold copyright).
Indeed, in fairly recent times parties used different colours in different areas.

What an up-himself utter bloody tosser. The worst part is that he is obvious going to lose anyway (2019 majority of less than 1000) but has choose to lose in a particularly embarrassing fashion. He should be removed from the approved candidates list after the election.

Indeed, in fairly recent times parties used different colours in different areas. There are very few of those except in the confined worlds of dyers and paint makers. To the general population the rare exception is probably Yves Klein Blue.

I have been reminded that when Alan Beith first won his rosette was blue, his Tory opponent wore red, and the Labour candidate wore green. (Green was quite widely used by Labour in the North East.)

Didn't Willie Whitelaw use a yellow rosette?
I wonder what he would make of today's Conservative party...🙄🫤

Yes I was involved in my first campaigns from 1945,age 6, onwards, and we were definitely yellow- I remember big yellow posters on our front lawn from a very early age. But in those days Yellow meant Labour - the liberals, when they re-emerged were red.
