Defections from the Tories to UKIP in Wales could send their remaining seats to Labour David Davies would be a contender to switch ?

He is arguably the one Welsh Tory MP who can be pretty certain of holding his seat next time, so perhaps not.....

I wonder if there will be a few people switching from Labour because they wish to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond. UKIP didn't really have a pond at all before.

but in most areas of policy the divide is so massive, I have to ask their motivations in being in labour at all, except a councillor in a safe seat

All parties have councillors who have only a very vague understanding of the political party they are members of.

what makes me laugh is that her reason is being asked to tow a whip, what was the issue she got annoyed about, has she not voted with the whip before ?

what makes me laugh is that her reason is being asked to tow a whip, what was the issue she got annoyed about, has she not voted with the whip before ? Given that UKIP have been heavily pushing that as an issue in their local literature, I suspect she was merely repeating the comments that had been written for her. I'd be very surprised if there was any actual issue where a whip was imposed contrary to her views, because if there was it would be front and centre in her statement. If it were a few months later, I'd be fairly certain this was due to a deselection. As it is, I'd want to see her attendance statistics before venturing an opinion.

If that's their main/sole motivation, it's not like they didn't have the options before. Both the Lib Dems and the Greens have fitted that criteria for years.
