Jeremy Corbyn out and about at pro-Palestine rallies, seemingly as energetic as ever. I'm pretty confident he'll stand as an independent here. I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see him turn his Peace and Justice Project into his own political party in the run up to the election and stand under that label. If I were Corbyn at this point, I’d join the Greens.

If I were Corbyn at this point, I’d join the Greens. Would they have him? Beggars can’t be choosers? I think Diane Abbott and Jeremy Corbyn could fit into the modern Green Party. If it was 2010-15, this seat would have had a constituency poll.

If I were Corbyn at this point, I’d join the Greens. Would they have him? Can't really imagine it. They wouldn't accept the bad publicity that would ensue- they've accepted lower profile Corbynites like Jo Bird, but I think Corbyn himself would be a step too far especially when they're actively trying to win Conservative-leaning seats at Westminster.

It makes sense in places like the Wirral where the greens are in a stronger place in opposition to labour that a defection makes sense. But this is all hypothetical. Just because Corbyn is left wing doesn't mean he'll end up in the Greens. Worth saying Corbyn is still a Labour member unlike Jo Bird who had been expelled I believe

Worth saying Corbyn is still a Labour member unlike Jo Bird who had been expelled I believe I guess he'll probably run as an independent then if he does stand again. He's only 75 in 2024, so could clearly run again. Diane Abott seems less likely to re-stand.

If Mr Corbyn runs as an Independent, I will definitely be canvassing for the official Labour candidate in this constituency. As it happens, I have never taken part in an election in any part of Islington up to now.

Crazy to think Corbyn is in some ways the ultimate career politician. Haringey councillor 1974 - 1983. MP ever since. 50 years in elected office might be enough for him.

I would have thought Corbyn would have a preferred successor in mind, same for Diane Abbott. Based on their policy stances and the Greens' successes in both seats in recent years, these seats would see the most notable Green surges in the land. The Greens got 23% in Islington North in 2022. A Councillor in Finsbury Park defected from Labour to Independent - I think that would be Corbyn's best area if he ran independently, as it has a sizeable Muslim population. I don't think Corbyn would run under a third party banner, but as an independent, like Emma Dent Coad is doing in Kensington & Bayswater.
