Quite a few councillors not standing for re election here, 8 of the 19 up this year are not standing again.
Of the 9 councillors currently sitting as Conservatives and up this year, 5 are standing for re-election, 4 are not standing for re-election- all 4 of whom were first elected in 2021 Of the 3 councillors elected as Conservatives in 2021, but sitting as Independents, 2 are standing for re election as Independents and 1 is not standing
Of the 6 Labour councillors up this year, 3 are standing for re election and 3 are not standing
The 1 Green councillor up this year, elected at a BE in 2022, is standing for re election.
The Conservatives can’t really do much worse than they did last year here on the back of tree gate - they won 1 ward last year- but will they do any better- I suspect not.

Turns out the Conservatives can do as badly as last year.
Losing Plymstock Radford for the first time since 1995
They avoided a wipeout by holding 1 seat - Somehow they held on in Eggbuckland by 17 votes, which to be fair was quite a good result as Lab won by 400 there last year.

I'm convinced Johnny Mercer won't stand at the next election. I've suspected it for a while and this will make his mind up for certain. He's too thin skinned to put up with the trouncing that would be coming his way.

The Conservative in Eggbuckland must be extremely popular to have only come close to losing given the results elsewhere

Little noticed beneath the headline Labour landslide, this was one of the more promising performances by Reform UK. They got 10% across the city with a low of just over 5% in Stoke and a high of almost 20% in Honicknowle. Seems significant that one of only two wards they didn't stand in was Eggbuckland - likely had they done so the Conservatives would have lost their only seat
