Looking beyond the practicalities and difficulties of Galloway getting into the leadership (this is after all an alternative history thought game), I see him as leader being far more charismatic than Corbyn, more capable of arguing his case, more effective at the dispatch box, cannier with the media… a trickier opponent to tackle in that sense. But whilst Corbyn is factional, so is Galloway. As Corbyn has historical baggage, so does Galloway. As uncompromising and inflexible as Corbyn is, so is Galloway. Galloway might have been able to tap into working class patriotism in a way Corbyn never could - or never would want to - but how would Galloway have handled Brexit? How would he have sought to lead Labour through that period? If he’d been more openly Eurosceptic in 2016 than Corbyn was, that could’ve been the end of his leadership. Then what happens in a 2017 election? A majority for May? Or might Labour have veered back to a more sensible leader earlier on?

McDonnell would have been a better choice of leader than Corbyn. He would have faced the same issues as Corbyn in 2019 though, so doubt it would have made much, if any, difference to the final result.

McDonnell is another one who is much more intelligent than Corbyn.
Although that may be damning with faint praise.

He was the Campaign group candidate on rotation at least once but could never get the nominations because so few people actually liked him.
