Just to be clear, there is no "poll" that "suggests" any such thing.
Doing constituency "projections" from national surveys of one or two thousand people is not just meaningless but, worse than that, misleading.

According to this poll both Reform and Green voters are less happy with their lives (although a touch of caution is appropriate):-

Are you thinking about this from a financial perspective (most responders I would imagine) or more the threats that are perceived to come from immigration, societial change or the impact of climate change. I know I would have been negative in my response whilst my own financial situation is pretty similar to my parents.

It's one of the reasons why we are struggling in London - unless you are seriously, seriously high earning - not £100k but £200k +, it makes absolutely no sense to live in middle class bits of London anymore. It's full of kids with piercings on half ok money but burning it on rent and complaining about it. Young tories come but they leave before having kids.

I would answer that question negatively as my immediate reaction would be on a financial basis. My parents bought a house in their 20s which is now worth £500k and for which people who are doing the jobs that they were then now would certainly not be able to get a mortgage for. They had paid off their mortgage by their early 50s. My dad retired when he was 57 and got his full private pension then. He then continued working part time as a consultant for another 7 years. I don’t think I will be able to do many of those things.

My dad never got to 6 figures even by retirement (2019 at 56), but nevertheless has a million pound house (from 26) and a 7 figure pension after putting 3 kids through private school while working a 9-5 whilst my mum stayed at home. After dropping out of Hull, and then committing the career suicide that is moving to the north-east. I should overtake him, but I've worked a lot harder for it, and haven't made as many dumb decisions. If he messed around like that, he would have had failure to launch as a millennial and been part of generation rent.
