The City of London Labour Party vote is only partly a party vote, with personalities still making a great impact. Natasha Lloyd-Owen is great but her 2018 byelection win in Castle Baynard was something of an electoral fluke.
As far as Cripplegate goes I think it would be fair to say that there are party candidates, and there are also non-party members who are allies.

If Labour wins in Rushden will the winner spectacularly dive over the line? Niche.

Crime against compass points indeed....
I'm sure the Golden Lane estate used to be in Islington - I worked for the council and was located nearby- even though it was owned by the City of London. It must have been moved at some point after I left Islington.

It moved in about 1994 I think (as with so many other London borough boundary changes)

Thanks everyone. Remarkably there is a Wikipedia page on London borough boundary changes which links to the LGBCE reports, even if they are not accessible through the LGBCE's own website.

Can't say I'd describe Rushden as off the beaten track. A trunk road goes right by it, there are another two within 10 miles of it and it's not like the A6 is a quiet country lane either.

Some notes on the City of London candidates, as there are sometimes allegiances which come disguised. In Castle Baynard, as noted in Andrew's Preview, Michael Hudson is the establishment candidate - a former Common Councilman for the ward, nominated by former Alderman Julian Malins. Edward Goodchild is nominated by leading employment law solicitor Rustom Tata and with support from other professional wealth managers and an officer at the College of Arms. Kevin Everett is nominated by the two people who run Dr Johnson's House Trust museum. Scott Longman is seconded by Eamonn Mullally, Common Councilman for Faringdon Within, with Alberto Costa - presumably the Conservative MP for South Leicestershire - as a supporting elector. In Cripplegate, Dawn Frampton is the Golden Lane Estate candidate: www.goldenlaneestate.org/profiles/blogs/dawn-frampton-independent-candidate-for-cripplegate-by-election-2Lionel Meyringer is nominated by Fred Rodgers who is a prominent member of City of London Labour Party (on the left faction). He's a Barbican resident and active in their tenants' association. Angus Mylne is also a Barbican resident but less involved in the residents' groups and more interested in the social life. Also apparently employed by the City Corporation. All three Cripplegate candidates contributed election addresses here: barbicanassociation.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/BA-Newsletter-MARCH-2023WEB.pdf

Don't know whether this is a byelection or regularly scheduled but:

"Common Councilman (the City uses this and "Alderman" as non-binary terms)" This may no longer be so clearly the case. The City website uses "Councillors" a lot these days. And three use the title "Alderwoman" though exactly how the online form is filled in varies.

It comes from ealdorman which has the same structure as wifman (female adult) and werman (male adult).

The Breakthrough and Labour candidates are also standing in the town council byelection. Con and LD have different candidates, and there is no Green candidate in the town council.

Voting figures not yet available but the City of London website indicates that the winner in Castle Baynard was Michael Hudson, and in Cripplegate was Dawn Frampton.
