A blog post commenting on Susan Hall's campaign - I by no means agree with much of what is said in it (the blogger is a long-standing Liberal Democrat activist, and firmly opposed to Sadiq Khan as mayor), but it does comprehensively explain why he didn't vote for Susan Hall (and incidentally why many of his acquaintances will have voted for Sadiq).

well he's been a Lib Dem for a few years, was Labour until not many years ago. As it happened, he was a long-ago customer of mine. (He is aware that he has a namesake pub, a very pretty one as it happens, in West Sussex.) Personally I don't think there was any way she could actually have won the election; the perception that she doesn't have a clue was far too widespread, including amongst some normally solid Conservative supporters, quite apart from the perception of her as someone not really attuned to modern London rather than London as it maybe once was.

I must admit that when I first saw the name Roger Tichborne I assumed it was a nom de plume referencing the infamous Arthur Orton's series of legal cases of 1865-74. But it appears to be his real name.

it definitely is. It was thanks to me that he first heard about his namesake pub. As far as I know, he has not yet visited it. He has also been a Lib Dem candidate in Barnet Council elections. I may possibly go to one of his gigs one of these days, he is quite a good musician.
