Lib Dems still in the doldrums in Norden I see. I thought part of the reason for their especially dire performance in 2012 was that they had an Asian candidate then and that they would at least recover to the late teens in a ward they won not long ago. I was wrong

I have just spent a total of fifteen minutes listening to a ringing phone in Newcastle's Election Office. They've probably all decided to take the day off after counting overnight, not thinking that people actually need the result... Seriously, we need to form a company that councils can outsource their elections departments too.

Is that really the best defence you have for the self-destruction of the party on a council you controlled 3 years ago? That says a lot...

I'm trying to ask local politicos on Twitter, but I'm stuck on the mainland at the moment with only my mobile phone for web access. Not ideal!

Overall a reasonably encouraging set of results for us ahead of next week. Little sign of any "Thatcher bounce" for the Tories, either.....

Its not exactly *unknown* for poll movements to be reflected in actual election results, you know. Even if it isn't a given either.
