I am thinking of a holiday in Portmeirion. This would certainly require me to drive there. They have electric charging points at the hotel and it shouldn't be too difficult, should it be necessary (the range on my car is a minimum of 260 miles), to find charging points halfway, let's say in Birmingham or Shrewsbury. The inconvenience would be minor as I wouldn't need to charge for all that long there. I'm not keen on very long drives these days. If I were to go to the Highlands, I wouldn't drive there probably - I'd get either a train or a plane to Inverness & hire a car there, as we did some years ago. East Anglia is near enough to London, even if it were the North Norfolk coast, to get there & back without need to charge at all, though to be on the safe side I would probably look for a charging point at or very near my destination. The car is lovely and I am determined to look after it very well.

yes there is, but it wouldn't be an easy journey from London at all and getting about would be tricky once we got there. Whereas on a recent break to Chester it was totally logical to take the train & walk to our hotel. We also did a day trip to Liverpool by train (from Chester that is). Although it was recent, it was extremely hot as there was a heatwave in early September.

The Liberal Democrats didn't just direct people to Vauxhall. It was their major London target. The launch of George Turner's campaign was made a national party event and the constituency was deluged with direct mail. In that context it is noteworthy (and hilarious) that Kate Hoey not only increased her majority, but gained the biggest in the history of the seat, and indeed all its northern Lambeth predecessors.

I must say that, despite my extremely deleterious opinion of Kate Hoey, I did find it quite funny.

Unfavourable then, if you don't know what deleterious means.

Unfavourable then, if you don't know what deleterious means. Ah! But that is the whole point. I do know what it means.

Thanks to the large Portuguese population in this seat, you have Casa Madeira, a superb restaurant by the river. The Octopus was well worth it.

In the light of the ward boundary changes, the ending of Conservative representation in the borough, and the re-entry of the Liberal Democrats to the council chamber I will slightly rewrite my profile in a short while.

Although the previous Conservative representation and the new Lib Dem representation is all outside this constituency yes, as I said in the profile before I rewrote it - I've finished it now. In the last 3 elections, Labour has won a full slate of councillors in this constituency.

Vauxhall is significantly oversized on current boundaries and loses the Clapham Town, Ferndale and Larkhall wards (with around 34,000 voters in total) to the new Lambeth Central constituency. In their place come 20,000 voters in the Camberwell Green and Newington wards of Southwark. In the initial proposals St George's ward would also have been added but that remains in Bermondsey & Old Southwark Clapham Town was the only significant source of Conservative support in this constituency and the new additions are wretched territory for them, but I dare say they didn't entertain high hopes on the old boundaries and this will of course be a very safe Labour seat Notional result 2019 on the proposed new boundaries Lab | 28676 | 60.5% | LD | 9561 | 20.2% | Con | 6536 | 13.8% | Grn | 1970 | 4.2% | BxP | 569 | 1.2% | Oth | 97 | 0.2% | | | | Majority | 19115 | 40.3% |

Before I write a profile of the seat on its new boundaries, is the name Vauxhall being retained? It seems a little laconic for a cross-borough seat such as is proposed.
