My friend Kevin would argue strongly that it should be disabled people to fit the social model. "The anything" sounds awful.
But if Labour lose enough votes to Galloway to give the seat to the Tories...two clear messages. 1. The Starmer experiment has failed. Get rid. 2. If a very important part of your core vote feels strongly about an element of policy which only they care about enough for it to change their votes, and that issue was party policy until April 2020, then don't abandon it if favour of one which will lose their vote without attracting others

This is toooo good! (Edit: In reference to the second post where he tries to deflect a journalist's question by accusing him of helicoptering into the constituency).
That leaflet is more convincing than any of the LibDem two horse leaflets I’ve seen over the years! And the same font as Labour and/or Lib Dem leaflets! I'm surprised nobody has asked what are the charities in Batley exactly that he has been supporting 'for over a decade'? How does that work? Or is it a wider charity that might have branches in Batley, or something from his Bradford days, seeing that it is not that far? Otherwise how can he foresee a by-election in Batley a decade in advance?!

Apparently, Labour have suspended campaigning tomorrow to mark the anniversary of Jo Cox's death.
Labour's campaign tomorrow will consist of reminding everyone about the death of their penultimate candidate in such tragic circumstances, in the hope of attracting a sympathy vote.
I suspect that this is going to blow up in their faeces.

We can't see how many voters he's addressing but it's surreal. He is clearly enjoying this by-election. Zero voters I suspect. I note he is not talking about the 2/3 of the constituency that is "Spen"

Point seven: we are not THE DISABLED; we are people with disabilities! I seem to recall this one going back and forth amongst various groups represented them over the years.

I don’t think so; I’m very much of the couldn’t give a damn school, and probably guilty of using the phrase myself, but, even 24 years ago when I was out and about participating in the disability community “the disabled” was out of bounds.

General feeling seems to be that Leadbeater will do quite well up that way. Very local message rather similar to Galloways in the sense of independence from Westminster, but with rather deeper roots.

I've been well trained in the social model, but yes, it's crass

Galloway's appearance before the US senate committee was fun. I don't think they were expecting quite what they got.

Oh God, you've just reminded me of the tedium of sitting through a debate on whether a group should refer to visual impairment or visual loss . . .

The introductory voiceover sounds like Reverend Lovejoy.

Sorry I must have been thinking of "disabled people". The way the terminology suddenly changed and what had previously been in use was suddenly deprecated could be a bit confusing.

I really enjoyed that video! Odious though I find many of his opinions, I take my hat off to his political talents, howsoever much he abuses those talents for ends with which I profoundly disagree.

Nobody cares and it won't do them an inkling of good.

/photo/1 Point six implies the return of... British Restaurants. Point seven: we are not THE DISABLED; we are people with disabilities! The disabled is as insulting as “the blacks” or “the Asians” 🤬 What the flying fuck is the difference between those two statements?
