Can I ask why Vaynor in Merthyr Tydfil has not been subject to the six month rule? Because the vacancy occurred more than 6 months before next May's elections... |

No two electors have called it. Therefore no election. That's the law. It's not even the oldest one on the list for Wales, there's one in Torfaen going back much further. |

I would go further and ask: Do we know of any instances where two randoms electors have called a by-election? If I was a random elector, as opposed to a party member, I can't imagine any circumstance where I would think: "Oh look, we are missing a councillor, I think I will call for a by-election". |

Yes, me, Worthing Marine earlier this month! Ok, I'm not a totally random elector, but I'm not a member of any party, nor was I asked to call the by election by any party. I wanted them to get on with it, so I found a friend who was willing to write a second letter, and we called it. |

Yes, when I came off the council in 2018, I stepped away from the local Green party because I was really totally burned out - not least because my experience with the local Labour party had left a really bad taste in the mouth. I would certainly preference Greens or LibDems in voting, but I'm completely uninvolved in the retail politics. |

Bridge, Ipswich - missing councillor is Collette Allen (Lab). Seat up in May anyway, so no byelection.
