Excellent maps there - it's great being able to see the boundaries displayed on a street map because it makes them much clearer. One minor thing which might be worth including is showing where multi-member wards have elected candidates from multiple parties. I'd suggest using stripes, but that can make it difficult to distinguish between where two parties each have one councillor and where one party has two and the other party has one (for example this would be a problem in Bracknell - compare Wildridings and Central with Priestwood and Garth).

That's excellent - thanks for sharing. Fwiw I disagree with bjornhattan about the way to deal with wards with split representation. This always comes down to personal taste, but my preference is always for a single colour showing the party which won the most votes. In this case it is perfectly clear from the table on the left (and by clicking on the individual wards) if a ward has split representation

The way wards with no elections are edited out completely is a bit confusing, especially where it impacts the boundaries of the authority. It would be better if they were shown and coloures blank/grey/black

I like the fact that the choice of base map is a zoomable one, so you can go down to the detail of the wards if that becomes necessary for any purpose. Another suggestion for displaying variation within split multimember wards rather than going to stripes as suggested by bjornhattan, which might be a bit confusing on a detailed base map like this, or just leaving it as winner takes all as you have done so far and recommended by Pete Whitehead, but which can be a bit misleading where the lead is very narrow. I might suggest colouring for lead party as at present but adding dots in party colours in each ward for the numberof elected councillors from each party.

Thanks for the suggestions. Displaying mixed wards on the map is something I have previously considered, I believe it is possible but it will take some time to implement. I am planning to begin further development of the backend once I have uploaded all 2019 data, so I will have a look at this then. If I do add this it will be an optional feature.
'Fallow' wards will be included once I have uploaded all 2019 election data.
I will also be including an interactive national ward map along with an accompanying national tally of councillors once 2019 is completed. I currently have data for 2,445 wards which I believe is around half of the total for 2019.
Conservative 1,727 Labour 1,033 Liberal Democrats 562 Independent 347 Green 125 UKIP 12 Others 178
Total 3,984

All 2019 ward election results have now been uploaded to the database. I have created a national map of results by ward (i.e. the party receiving the most votes), however it isn't working as it should at the moment so here's a preview for now:

2018 and 2017 are also now complete (links below). I'm hoping to upload all 2016 data before the local elections in May (if I get time) to allow comparison with the delayed 2020 set of elections. I will be uploading results as they are announced Friday 8th/Saturday 9th, as I'm not recording number of votes etc. it shouldn't take too long and most of the ward maps should be completed by Monday 11th along with a tally of councillors by authority. Any corrections or suggestions for improvement welcome. www.electionsengland.co.uk/elections.php?year=2018www.electionsengland.co.uk/elections.php?year=2017

A nice resource. If possible it would be possible to scroll through the years once you're in the page for a particular council, to make comparisons easier. Rather than going into the next year and selecting the council again from the list.
