Following comments in the Us Presidential race 2020 thread I was pondering votes i'd cast I came to regret. I could only really think 2015 GE tactical vote for the Lib dems though 2019 GE for Boris coming to the fore slowly!

None.
I did wish another candidate had stood in Sheffield Hallam for Labour in 2017, and got my vote, but on balance Jarad O'Mara was a price worth paying to get rid of Nick Clegg.

I regret not voting for Gavin Barwell (Conservative) in Croydon Central 2010. I regret not defecting from the OMRLP to the Conservative Party earlier than I did.
When I was a student at Royal Holloway I voted in the local election for the Lib Dem candidate in the local ward in Runnymede Borough Council, but only because the previous result suggested that the Lib Dem was the main non-Conservative challenger. I would preferred to have voted Labour. The result was that the Labour candidate ended up 5 votes ahead of the Lib Dem, albeit both way behind the Conservative. It was this experience which substantially put me off tactical voting.

I also regret a lib dem vote at a local election-I can't see anything persuading me to vote for them again at any level

I regret voting Liberal Democrat in 2010 and mainly on the basis of their pledge to scrap tuition fees. I was only 19 at the time and it was the first general election I could vote at.

I only "regret" it in the sense that I regret that there was not a Green candidate; if there had been a Green candidate then I would have voted Green. It was not until years later that it occurred to me that I was the part of the key psephological segment of the voters who were wavering and scared off Kinnock at the latter stages of the campaign, thereby allowing Major to win a majority for the Conservatives.. I did not fully decide between voting Labour and voting Lib Dem until the morning of election day itself. |

Yes that was what appeared to have happened though it might have depressed the Lib dem vote too with soft ones going to the Tories |

Regretting your actions is the first step towards learning from your mistakes. Yes, it's bad if you wallow in regret instead of taking action to avoid repeating your past mistakes and to rectify any wrongs you may have personally caused. But that doesn't mean that regret is futile or that you should pretend the past never happened.

If I knew Ben Curran was only going to cling on by 41 votes last year, I'd have voted Green and hoped at least another 40 people would also have done.

Not an actual vote I regret, but I strongly considered voting Green at the Euros last year before deciding in the polling booth to stick with Labour. Given that they then made a deliberate effort to lose David Drew his seat while harping on about working together to beat the Tories, I deeply regret considering voting for them

They're no longer a major force taking left-wing votes and putting them towards a right-wing cause, so yes. |
