Matt Busby was a socialist, and Liverpool also had Paisley and Fagan in the lifelong Labour column. Indeed, whilst football players tend to vote Tory - managers seem more left-friendly. You can also cite Brian Clough and more recently Roy Hodgson. And of course there's Felchester Rovers, Britain's only communist football team. "Up for the Coup" *

Didn't they try to draw every game? They beat Cambridge in the FA Cup due to the large number of communist sympathisers among the opposition.

The did progress in the Cup after beating the notorious North East hardmen Crunchthorpe United away from home. Well, not exactly, as they let their hooligan stockbroker fans play the match. They scored a 'very innovative goal' by stuffing the ball up the goalkeepers' jersey and kicked him over the line. Unfortunately, Ricky Lenin, Stevie Stalin and Terry Trotsky mistakenly went into the Crunchthorpe Supporters club for a post-match drink and did well to escape.

Boundary changes remove the peripheral council estate wards of Croxteth and Norris Green to Walton and add Old Swan from Wavertree and Page Moss and Swanside from Knowsley. Page Moss is another peripheral estate while Swanside is owener occupied but all are solidly Labour so the partisan effect is negligible 2019 Notional result Lab | 34765 | 77.7% | Con | 3855 | 8.6% | BxP | 2168 | 4.8% | Lib | 1884 | 4.2% | LD | 1334 | 3.0% | Grn | 729 | 1.6% | | | | Majority | 30910 | 69.1% |

Croxteth East - 75.6% Christian
MSOA with the highest % of Christian residents in England and Wales 2021
I presume the Christian population is high in Croxteth and surrounding parts of Merseyside due to high Irish Catholic ancestry amongst its residents.
