Laughable incompetence - at best.

Be interesting to know what procedure voters have to go through in order to cast a valid absentee ballot.
The UK rejection rate in the 2019 general election was about 4%. some through failing to include/match personal identifiers, others for the same reasons ballots are ordinarily rejected.

Quite a few American states are completely incompetent at implementing postal voting. New York has an insanely high rejection rate (in large part due to it being unclear you even need to give a signature on the ballot), taking weeks to count the ballots, and even refusing to announce them for a while after they've been counted. California has a similar issue with counties having iirc a month to count the ballots and taking their sweet time to do so. Washington even has it written in law that postal ballots cannot be counted until after election day.

At this rate, some of these states which are newer to VBM or only using absentee voting could see Democrats disadvantaged compared to Republicans who have been encouraged to avoid voting by mail (and therefore will be less susceptible to having their ballots rejected). The only upside is it probably won't matter much at the presidential level in NYC.

Laughable incompetence - at best. Voter suppression - at worst. "Absence from my district means I win via absentee ballots" - Elliot Engel, if he somehow pulls it off N.B. if he does win the absentee vote but loses narrowly thanks to the in-person vote, he may have this debacle to blame.

I note that Louisiana held their presidential primary yesterday and managed to count all the votes within a few hours of the polls closing.

Tbf they only had one special election and the presidential primaries held yesterday and they were apparently fairly low turnout events (congressional primaries are yet to be held).

Laughable incompetence - at best. Voter suppression - at worst. Both, writ very large. They sem to be somehow managing to mostly discard establishment-friendly votes.

Yeah, right Are Nixon and Trump the only Presidents who changed their home state before running for re-election?

Eisenhower's home state was New York in 1952 but Pennsylvania when running for re-election in 1956.

A big rejection of Trump from his former home state. Something like Biden 64%, Trump 34%

The remaining votes are the absentee ballots and they will skew heavily to Biden. The pollsters probably won't be that far out in the end.
