Can you send the BBC a link to explain John Curtice was talking bollocks about that sort of recount being unnecessary?

Five minute warning. Looks like no recount.

A fairly good result for Labour IMO would be to increase their numerical vote from 2010 (which was 5,153).

Farage now saying LDs 1,000 ahead of UKIP. And 2,000 ahead of Tories.

Terrible performance by LD (-15 lest we forget), terrible for us (-14), terrible for labour (no improvement from 2010).
Only one winner tonight. Felt really sorry for Maria who obviously gave her all.
Is this the first time a -19% swing has been talked about it in positive terms.

Relief for the LDs. Very strong for UKIP. FWIW I make that a 0.25% swing LD to Con since 2010. Poor result for Labour, but they probably won't be all that bothered. How will the Conservatives react?

Lowest percentage for a winner in a by-election since when? I'm probably forgetting something very obvious, but it's lower than Hillhead.

considering the reason for the election, and the news over the last few days (and the timing not coincidental I suspect) I'll take that.
