In my opinion is Florida is safe GOP, unless they nominate someone worse than Trump.
I don't think it's safe - but I think there is a huge reluctance by those who dislike Trump to try and grasp why others like him. Just about any other factor will be dredged up but I think they are missing the point. Perhaps it's just something that those who hate him can't do. Safe is probably overstating it, but , like Ohio, it’s trending away from the Democrats for sure; Bill Nelson was hardly a progressive, had his usual levels of support amongst African American and Hispanic voters, increased his raw number of young voters, but still couldn’t hold off Rick Scott.

A lot speculation that Rick Scott is planning a run for the Republican nomination in 2024. Would be credible candidate Quite possible, but I would hope somebody under 70 might put up a credible candidacy as well. I am not saying that government leaders should always be fairly young (if too young you get the anomaly of the career of David Cameron as PM ending before he turned fifty, which seems a weird way to do politics). Also, some experience of life outside of politics is a good thing, but some vigour would be welcomed.

There are a number of Republicans already circling, the most unsubtle being Tom Cotton, Senator from Arkansas, Nikki Haley of South Carolina, and Josh Hawley, Senator from Missouri. Obviously Pence can’t be ruled out either; he hasn’t uttered a syllable publicly since Tuesday, and apparently his Twitter feed is just retweeting the daily Covid numbers.

Not sure what twitter feed your looking at, he is not exactly gung ho, but he is tweeting quite a bit, including this from Friday: A non-statement as such.

I wasn’t actually looking at his Twitter feed, I was listening to John Pienaar on Times Radio who said there had been no public comment from Pence and the thing about his Twitter. The other potential candidate for 2024 I forgot mention is Kristi Noem of South Dakota who spent most of the last two weeks campaigning in Iowa.

Who very much is cleaving to the Trump campaign message right now.

I was wondering why Travel South Dakota had an advert starring her in basically every single ad break on Fox News.
Why pay to campaign when your state government will do it for you?

To be honest neither South Florida seat was hugely surprising; Murcasel Powell is a swingy District on current lines, and Shalala was just a godawful fit for the District and barely scraped in in 2018.

I'm now very confused about where Hollywood is. I though you would have known that it is south of Birmingham, a little bit east of the A435.

Ive actually been to Hollywood, FL a few times, as my wife used to live in Ft Lauderdale. It's a city between Ft Lauderdale and Miami, and is very much in the image of its 2 bigger neighbours. Lots of Art Deco-style hotels, golden beaches and golf courses etc. Relies heavily on tourism, so is probably having a hard time at the moment.
