I really do hope that I don't need to say this on this site but when party internals show their candidate doing way better than every single public opinion poll it is almost certain that the party internal was hopelessly flawed/biased or possibly a complete work of fiction. I'm sharing it because: A - I find it extraordinary even as an internal. B - It should be a warning light to the GOP that they're going to have to spend time in the state. Given everything else that's going on, it's something they can ill afford to do. I don't consider it "a complete work of fiction" and find your, and many of the thread's denizens, near constant cynicism of America, American politicians and American politics incredibly boring. Before I arrived on this forum I found it very exciting. Boy do you and your clique know how to stamp that out 🙄.

I find it perfectly plausible that a Democratic pollster has been able to conduct a poll that finds Jones ahead by 1%. I find it rather less plausible that it is an accurate reflection of the state of play given that the only credible nonpartisan polls from Morning Consult have found Jones down 17% and 18%.

The latest Morning Consult poll was nearly a month ago and things may have tightened. There has been a poll by Auburn University at the start of October which found a slightly closer race - Tuberville ahead 54-42.
Possible this is a strategically leaked poll to gee up Democratic voters - or to decoy Republican Senate spending this way.

US Politics is frankly absolutely awesome, it is a magnificent spectacle and a psephological goldmine. It is also irredeemably corrupt and fails some of the most basic tests of liberal democracy. No serious observer can view it with anything other than total cynicism. In this case you have foolishly accepted the premise that a leaked internal poll is legitimate data when in reality everyone who knows what they are talking about know that it is pure propaganda. Campaigns conduct near constant internal polling and they only release the most favourable figures and often from biased/flawed polling companies. In 2014 then House Majority Leader Eric Cantor released a poll showing him winning his primary by over 30 points, a few weeks later he lost.
