Exactly how much detail is required? I at least am very happy for you to do it just as you wish!

Although I haven't volunteered, I will probably have a go at areas I know well - North East London and South Essex, Birmingham and Warwickshire in particular.

Just to say, I think this is going splendidly! Thanks and congratulations to all who have taken part so far. I don't think there's any rush, as we're going to have time on our hands for ages. One or two thoughts. I love the history of seats, but I also always tried to explain the latest (i.e. 2019) election result in detail, and maybe it would be helpful to append that result, in the first post or within the threads so kindly created by BossMan. Also, having these threads may make it possible for bjornhattan or others to add statistics on demographics and so on, as previously discussed. I found it useful to consult recent local election results to cast some light on the relative strengths of the parties within the constituencies. Very clever people may even be able to find links to ward maps relevant to seats. Finally, I imagine the seats may be grouped together my region as their numbers continue to grow ... which is a delight for me - and I'm sure others - to see and read! Well done indeed, again, to all of you. PS Going forward, I'm aware that there were other elements in the Almanac as well as the individual seat profiles, such as lists of seats with the highest and lowest this 'n' that, oldest and youngest MPs, regional surveys and so on ... in due course I'd hope to take bids for these too, if folk are willing and spared!

I'm planning to add those technical details to my threads later, probably all in one, as that should be the easiest part to write

I have edited the Hertsmere thread to include some of this data vote-2012.proboards.com/post/926843/threadIt is a little easier to do the map in this case because the constituency and local authority have the same boundaries, which is not the case in many places

Have we got a list of who's doing which seats? and has anyone taken the Forest of Dean yet?

Have we got a list of who's doing which seats? and has anyone taken the Forest of Dean yet? Just do a search on the top right of the board to see if a seat has already been done. There's nothing to stop people making suggestions or alternative descriptions for the same seats. They would compliment each other.

I think people can start their own constituency threads on the 'sub-board' and put their entries there? (Though whether it needs an admin BossMan to move them there I know not.)

You can start your own thread there, which is what I did. Though my post was also moved across there, leading to there briefly being two Oxford East threads!

I have done the 4 Southend area seats and propose to move westward until I get to Camden. I think others have better knowledge of Barnet and Brent than me, so i will then move to the Birmingham area, unless anyone else has done it first.

Would be happy to do Barrow & Furness and Copeland, maybe throw in Lancaster & Fleetwood as a treat.
(unless somebody else volunteers, of course)

Might it be worth drawing up a map showing which constituencies have threads, which are claimed, and which are unclaimed?

I've done one of the Northern Ireland ones and could do the rest, time permitting. Other areas I've lived in which I could have a go at if no one else steps up are: Stoke-On-Trent, Epping Forest, Uxbridge, Harrow West and Ealing North.
As this is proving popular, might be an idea to break the dedicated forum up into sub-threads or create a centralised list of what's already been done.

I'm glad this is proving so popular, and agree that the time may be coming to break the sub-board into regions, which I guess an admin should be the one to do ...
Perhaps it would be a good idea to avoid a 'feeding frenzy' by asking people just to 'claim' a relatively few seats at a time.
This is because my idea was to provide positive and useful occupation during the 'lockdown' period which will go on for a considerable time, and also it would be nice to give as wide a range as possible of posters the chance to start threads. I guess a lot of us are trying to 'pace ourselves'.
Well done to all taking part, there's some terrific knowledge and insight - and some good writing! - in this co-operative venture.

What an excellent idea this is! I still regularly consult the 1st and 5th editions for the 1983 and 1997 boundary changes & notionals and they have given me much pleasure over the years. As such it would be most selfish not to volunteer for this endeavour.
I'm happy to pick up the southern end of Derbyshire not already covered - so the two Derby seats plus Derbyshire Dales. I'll also do Burton. I'll also happily compose something for my now home constituency of Thirsk and Malton.
Those should keep me busy during idle moments this next week.

Next week I will start on the seats in Sefton and Liverpool, then a couple I know in Lancashire and Greater Manchester ( Lancaster & Fleetwood and Morecambe & Lunesdale (in conjunction with The Bishop ) Wigan and Leigh, and I'll also do my original stamping ground which won't exactly be a challenge (Beaconsfield, Maidenhead and Wycombe) I need to clear some online marking first!

Unless somebody knows them better, I'm going to finish Bedfordshire and probably Bristol at a rate of roughly one seat per day. If nobody else takes them I can then do the other Gloucs/S Gloucs seats. I also have my grandmother doing Witney, my mum is thinking of doing Keighley and I think my dad is doing Hayes & Harlington.
