The AWA is a new party, apparently.

*points and laughs* Did somebody say Conservative gain? A lot of us said that without Williams the Tories would have a chance. And they do now have a genuine chance, especially if the Labour vote rebounds a bit. I would say the Tories stand as slight favourites to take the seat but this is one of those places where candidate selection will be significant.

I wonder if PC would stand down like they did in the by-election & General Election?

I wonder if PC would stand down like they did in the by-election & General Election? I'd be astonished if they did. The very particular reasons for that don't apply now, and they'll be keen to re-establish a foothold, however small.

I wonder if this will be the Liberal Democrats only seat or will they pick up any list seats?

Lib Dem shortlist:
Jane Dodds (former MP) William Powell (former AM)
Result due 11 December.
The only name I've heard linked to the Conservative selection is Tomos Dafydd Davies who contested Ynys Mon in 2017 and Dwyfor Meirionnydd in 2019.

It must be pretty unusual for a party leader not to win the selection to be a constituency candidate. Any prior examples?

Former AM v former MP plus former President v current leader is an unusual contest to be fair!

Can’t blame them given her loss at the last election.
Is there a chance Jane Dodds might get top spot on the regional list? Would then be in her interest to divert resources away from this seat to prevent an FPTP victory and in the process ensure a top up seat for herself.
