This is one of the contested seats, David Torrance has been an activist and local Cllr, MSP for a very long time. Roger Mullin has challenged him, Mullin stood in 84 and ran a law office in town in the 80's. I have known both men well. Neall Hanvey who won the seat at a Westminster level has come out in support of Mullin, I know nothing of him bar the errors on social media he made, which were not a good sign. Would appear that a local argument is ongoing. The branch used to be tiny as this really was Labour heartlands ++. but, even back then had some unusual ego's kicking about.

Mullin was the MP 2015-17 I think?

Yes he was, I should have highlighted that also.

Yes he was, I should have highlighted that also. Surprising he’s trying to make a comeback - he’ll be 73 next year and wasn’t exactly among the cream of the SNP’s 2015 intake.

I knew I'd come across him in a professional/academic sphere but couldn't place where. He's been pushing the case for Scottish stock exchange, arguably a good idea (as are other regional UK ones).
