It should be 'separation', no? No! It should be 'independence'. However, as carlton43 says, this typifies everything that is wrong with, not only the Scot Tories, but with much of our politics in general. It's either career kids with zero life experience, men masquerading as women on ludicrous women-only short lists, or over privileged old school ties. We NEED representative democracy and we need it yesterday.

The problem is politics is so Unappealing to people with life experience you end up with these careerist kids who know very little of the real world. |

Also, a councillor's allowance isn't likely to be very attractive to someone who isn't either at least semi-retired or an enthusiastic twenty-something aiming for a political career, and councillors wanting to boost their profile locally and within their party will tend to be the most obvious parliamentary candidates in hopeless constituencies. |

I agree. Few of our recent younger councillors have done more than one term and some haven't even managed that |

I wondered how families could do this but EU research shows a poor family may marry a child into a wealthier clan, if the kid cannot hack it as a shoplifter or pickpocket she is made to beg or sell sex to earn enough to return to her family, the amount being double the original dowry, money lenders demand 400%. People have been prosecuted, but ................ What might be happening is the kids are taken into care for a while and the adults given an option of a flight back to Slovakia where Stalin dumped them post war. Sad thing is a lot of the research is classing all the various groups as the same. I would go it is happening but not rampant. There is a subtext that coercion of young boys into sex work is far more profitable and kept well hidden. |

Kyle was in the year below me at Uni doing the same degree: nice guy; hasn't a hope in hell of winning but I hope he doesn't do that badly. Haven't a clue if he'll be on the Tory list but I suspect he'll probably be towards the bottom if they are - I know the Tories tend to submit very long lists to cover for a load of vacancies.
