Could be a similar winning vote share to Belfast South in 2015. I'll get the popcorn You might be waiting a while. There have been rumblings the election may be delayed if there's a third wave.

Conservatives will retain this seat with an increased majority I like your optimism, I suspect on the currently polling we'd loss it, but if we go into the election around 26% nationally and with the greens standing we are definitely in with a shot.

Conservatives will retain this seat with an increased majority This is a "bold" prediction, especially with a candidate who isn't Davidson.

SNP selection candidates:
Angus Robertson (former MP for Moray 2005-17 losing out to current Scottish Conservatives leader Douglas Ross, former Depute Leader of the SNP and Westminster Group Leader, already spent over £1000 on social media advertising - the most of any potential candidate so far) Marco Biagi (former MSP for this seat 2011-16, didn't seek the candidacy in 2016) Lee-Anne Menzies (see East Lothian entry) Mridul Wadhwa (candidate for Craigintenny and Duddingston on Edinburgh Council in 2017, Indian born, transgender, also standing for selection in Stirling)

The Queen over the Water wasn't too impressed with last night's hustings here.

All the online buzz at the minute seems to with Marco Biagi. He is running a very grassroots-oriented campaign, boasting of the endorsement of fifty local members, and has even gone so far as to state that if he doesn't win the selection, he won't seek a place on the list. After everything that's happened here it would be deliciously ironic if Biagi won, but somehow I just can't see it, especially when rumours abound that Sturgeon is grooming Angus Robertson to be her successor.
As for Robertson himself, he has plumped for more "big -name" endorsements, including Brian Cox, Ricky Ross and, erm, Charlie Reid of The Proclaimers, who seems an odd choice to promote in the constituency which includes Tynecastle!

Biagi will win comfortably and Robertson will then parachute into top of the regional list. There are slim pickings for potential successors to Sturgeon, which is risky given the various issues she’s immersed in. Remains to be seen whether Murrell’s inevitable scalp will be sufficient to defray from her culpability. Robertson has conducted himself reasonably enough and is generally well liked, the main issue is likely to be his being affiliated with the anti-Salmond faction, if that is what takes Sturgeon down. His wife’s consultancy work is also likely to come under further scrutiny should he be in the frame for First Minister.

Presumably not the Lothian list as SNP have no list MSPs here and are even less likely to get one next year if they take this back from the Tories. Can't see them losing one of their other seats in the region this time, unless they self-destruct between now and then...

I agree with MacDonald on trans rights, but he seems like a humourless bastard. I want Marco to win here, given his closeness to the leadership atm it's probably best Robertson doesn't get it.

They'll get Robertson in somehow. Even if they have to elbow the likes of 69 year old Colin Beattie MSP (Midlothian North and Musselburgh) oot the road, so to speak😅.

Why didn't Biagi seek the nomination in 2016?

Why didn't Biagi seek the nomination in 2016? He went to Yale.
