Kirsty Blackman is reportedly seeking the nomination to effect a switch from Westminster to Holyrood. Would be a good move for an intelligent and capable operator - indeed now a veteran at the age of 34, having been elected first in 2007.
Interestingly, she will be the only remaining member of the young SNP intake to Aberdeen City Council that year, with her brother John having stepped down after one term, Callum McCaig having lost his neighbouring constituency in 2017 and Mark McDonald heading for the exit in 2021.
The most significant barrier to her accession will be internal SNP politics, with the NEC manoeuvring to block Joanna Cherry supplanting Nicola’s preferred nominee for Ruth Davidson’s Edinburgh Central constituency.

So just looking at 'options' at this stage.

So just looking at 'options' at this stage. Not quite, actively pursuing a rule change which would make it a lot more difficult to transfer. Apparently the NEC ran out of time to consider it at their meeting, so presumably remains to be determined. Appears to be one fault line in a factional conflict and if so Kirsty may be collateral damage.

I’m sure that in the short period between McDonald’s resignation from the SNP and the publication of the Salmond allegations that there was some degree of speculation that he might have sought the nomination in a by election.
Now by that point he’d lost his Westminster seat but there may well be an element in the current SNP leadership of keeping ‘problems’ in London, or at least out of Holyrood.

Jackie Dunbar Cllr for Northfield has announced she is seeking the nomination. Aiming to follow in Kevin Stewart’s footsteps, indeed he was second to her in Northfield and it probably wasn’t just alphabetical bias. Jackie’s a decent quean and a well respected local representative, if anything a bit too nice to be an SNP parliamentarian but good luck to her.
