Essex County Council practically begging the Government to crash the county's economy. This has got to be the Tory administration I hold in most contempt anywhere in the country. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-54521907

Yes, I've known Neil Stock for about 20 years and he is definitely one of the good guys. If we could dismember Essex County and have a unitary for Colchester & Tendring he would be an excellent choice to lead it.

If Essex were dismembered, Colchester would much prefer to be a unitary on its own. They know they're too small though, and would probably want to loads of boundaries redrawn. They hinted at it occasionally when I lived there. On the plus side, a bigger area would reduce the influence of the University.
