Don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that compared to Andy Street, Andy Burnham, Ben Houchen and even James Palmer, the incumbent here has struggled to make much of an impact.

I think that’s fair to say. Rarely heard off, which is partly the person and partly the job. Marvin Rees, mayor of Bristol, gets on the local TV a lot more. Andy Street and Andy Burnham were of course better known before being elected to their posts, but perhaps would struggle a little more if they had directly elected mayors of Birmingham and Manchester to compete with.

As there are going to be 4 simultaneous elections in Bristol in 2021 there must be a chance that this one gets bumped a year...

London has coped with four ballot papers at once in the past, why can't Bristol?

When did London have 4?

Any time there's a borough council byelection at the same time as the GLA election, the voters get four ballot papers: Mayor, Assembly constituency, London List, and council byelection.

Also in 2004 we had the EU Parliament election on the same day.

Labour shortlist
Helen Godwin (Bristol Cllr) Dan Norris (former MP for Wansdyke)
Those cut at shortlisting stage were Lesley Mansell, Mhairi Threlfall, Mike Davies, Dan Norris, Grant Johnson and Mabushar Chaudhry.

Ops, sorry, I forgot to edit his name from the list of those with nominations by CLPs when I was figuring out the eliminated hopefuls after interviews as difference between shortlisted and nominated.

Same as Steve Rotheram- Joe Anderson is always on the telly, often from what seems to be his bedroom. You rarely see Rotheram.

Popcorn at the ready cos there's been some controversy here (its the Labour Party what do we all expect) since Momentum backed Lesley Mansell was dropped from the shortlist despite coming top for CLP nominations. Bristol Momentum is said to be appealing the decision not to shortlist Mansell

I'm not quite sure why everybody's going to choose to fall out over a position with no power and no publicity, but there we are.

I'm sure the good folk of Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall (also possibly Wiltshire, Dorset and Worcestershire) will relish the chance to vote for Mr Williams - WEST OF ENGLAND!!!!

"West of England" was a curious choice of name for this post. "Avon" would have been the better choice, but for some reason seems to be disliked by locals. "Greater Bristol" would of course have been unacceptable in BANES and North Somerset. Could of just made it, "Mayor of CUBA" I suppose.
