Otherwise quite a lot going on! But in terms of membership we are still getting the last trickles of the latest Johnson appointments as a minor sideshow of the ongoing Conservative government sleaze.

Lord Frost's leave of absence (which he entered the day after being introduced last September) was terminated today. Yes he voted in a division just now. There is a discussion going on about whether he will have a separate question time session in the Lords (usually only happens for Cabinet ministers other than the Leader of the House.

You have to write to the Lord Speaker, and then your leave of absence is terminated three months later. (To stop Peers rushing back for particular votes)

Easy as it may be to lose track at the moment, we are in fact only a little over two months into the current year.

Not really, he knew his job as lead negotiator was effectively term limited and wouldn’t be extended so he could pick his preferred return date for any time after that almost from the day he took the leave.

I think (but have not checked) that you can apply for leave of absence for a set period eg six months. In such as case I don't know if you have to notify half way though. I think a monthly Lords Question time may be organised for Frost but I don't think it's been announced yet.

Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe (XB), a former Law Lord, is retiring from the Lords on Wednesday on his 81st birthday. He has voted five times since the last GE.

Baroness Blake of Leeds will be introduced on 25 March. I imagine she will soon be refreshing the opposition front bench.

Norman Fowler the Speaker is retiring and when he does so he will move from "Speaker" to Crossbench. Someone will be elected as Lord Speaker and will move from whatever they are now to "Speaker". Exciting stuff.

Baroness Kinnock of Holyhead has given notice of retirement on 9 April 2021 (29 years to the day since her husband led the Labour Party into his last general election). She has been in poor health in the last few years.

How is Neil Kinnock these days? I haven't seen much of him in the media over the past few years, and looking online he doesn't seem to be very active in the Lords.

Exciting stuff. I believe the candidates are Baroness (Dianne) Hayter of Kentish Town (Lab), Lord (John) McFall of Alcluith (Lab) and your own Lord (John) Alderdice?

It's being discussed in two other threads, but it should probably also be noted here that Tony Greaves has sadly left the House of Lords, this forum, and this world.
This isn't the place to eulogise him (and other forum members have done it better than I could), but his contributions to this thread in particular will be sorely missed.
