None of the titles have been Gazetted yet. They tend to come in a group so I expect they will start on Monday.

Davıd Boothroyd does this new batch mean one person next week will become the 1500th life peer?

Davıd Boothroyd does this new batch mean one person next week will become the 1500th life peer? No, because the 1500th Life Peer has already been created. It is Terence Etherton, the former Master of the Rolls, who was raised to the Peerage as Baron Etherton on 23 December 2020.

I remain completely puzzled why this thread is within the ‘Defections’ folder as I have seen next to nothing about defections anywhere?

Because I could not find anywhere else to put it. Also there has been a steady trickle of peers away from parties into Non-Affil and some have even made it to Crossbenchers or moved over to the Tories. And resignations cannot be listed under by-elections apart from the occasional hered who goes.
Anyway everything about the House of Lords is a bit weird so why should it be different here?

First peerage of the December list formally created this morning: Baron Godson members.parliament.uk/member/4903/contactEDIT: And this afternoon, Dan Hannan who is firmly committed to the British people being governed by those they voted for, has been raised to the Peerage as Baron Hannan of Kingsclere.

I am not sure that the introduction into the House is the formal creation of the peerage. Is it? I don't know, it's always been a bit vague to me. But I thought hte formal creation was the issue of the Letters Patent.

Two more Peerages were created today. Lord McDonald of Salford, and Lord Cruddas - the latter being created against the firm advice of the HLAC.

The elevation of Lord Cruddas is a disgrace. But with Johnson, there are so many that no-one seems to care any more.

Maybe it's a double double bluff, he's joined the Lords to defeat it from the inside, like a good l/Liberal d/Democrat.

Baroness Chapman of Darlington (Labour) and Lord Etherton (XB - former judge) will be introduced on 1st March. And he Lord Khan of Burnley (Labour) on the 2nd March. A slight relief from the string of Tories.

Not much happening in the Lords this month then? There's this.. Best LibDem peer of the lot. Told the truth about Israel and opposed the evil of Zionism. She will be missed as the Zionist lobby and their witch-hunter mob scare some into not saying what they think, particularly if they are foolish enough to want to stay in the Labour party. She stood firm.

Not much happening in the Lords this month then? There's this.. Ah, the fifth column of the Campaign for Saint Bibi. Quite ironic the balance is in their logo given their God is a corrupt politician.

Not much happening in the Lords this month then? There's this.. Seems like a sort of disgraceful right-wing Jewish fascistic-style meme. Jennie has been a tremendous Liberal campaigner, a brilliant MP for Richmond, and a hard-working peer, not least for the rights and interests of Palestinians who have suffered and are still suffering from the actions of the Israeli authorities.
