Two new peers were introduced today: Lord Darroch of Kew, Lord Reed of Allermuir. Both non-political of some kind.

What is the exact difference between crossbench and non-aligned? I seem to recall that XB peers act as a group but can't remember the exact details.

The Crossbench Peers have an office and an elected Convener to look after their interests as a group (but not set any policy), and they coordinate briefings on upcoming business. Non-aligned peers don't have access to these facilities.

Hasn’t voted, spoken (or claimed expenses) for years. He could take a leave of absence, I don’t think he’s waiting to be rehabilitated though. Maybe he’s just keeping an eye out for a moment to shine.
