I doubt many voters outside of Lewes district are aware I obviously meant at Lewes and after people were exposed to what they do and don't do. Nothing more. Oh so you were referring to May 2023..

Ah damn, I just thought all the Mets were up this year. I just can't see Solihull being run by anyone but the Tories because of the split opposition, but we'll see in May I suppose. As I said over in the Solihull thread, the entire Lib Dem group and at least two thirds of the Labour group would definitely back a Green-led administration over a Conservative one. Yes, the opposition is split into different parties. But that doesn't mean they are incapable of working together to provide an alternative administration in the event that they have the numbers for one. I know of a Green/LD coalition nearby but I don't know if Labour would support one from my personal experience.

Labour's national policy allows your council groups to come to arrangements with both Green groups and Liberal Democrat groups on NOC councils. So it's really down to the relationships between the councillors in the local authority, and my Green colleagues in Solihull tell me they have a good working relationship with both Lib Dem and Labour groups (with the possible exception of the Labour councillor who's up for re-election this year - who voted for the Conservative group's budget on at least one occasion). At the risk of coming across as rude, I don't think your personal experience is particularly relevant to a council which you are clearly unfamiliar with.

I would guess that like Benita she can't commit for another almost year of campaigning for no good result at the end.

You've posted the link about the Lib Dems twice rather than the one about the Green candidate...

I would guess that like Benita she can't commit for another almost year of campaigning for no good result at the end. I imagine they also think the delay also means a worse result for them. Had the election been in May there would have been a small but committed unhappy-about-Brexit contingent who would have wanted to vent their anger at the ballot box and who could have been talked into voting LibDem (obviously in London more so than here, but the point still stands). In a low turnout election that can make the difference between a respectable result and a humiliating one, but at an extra year's distance that will no longer apply so they might be expecting a much worse result than they were before

You mean green slime isn't an election issue? If primary school children could vote, it would be!

Steve Caudwell, opposition leader in Solihull, is the Green candidate.
