Though I don't expect this council to get any attention (it's as safe Tory as they come) it'll be interesting to see if the Lib Dems can reclaim the opposition or if independents can make inroads. A new independent grouping was formed in March of five councillors, which replaced the now four-strong Lib Dem group as the main opposition. Of the five, one was elected as an independent (although he is a former Lib Dem, but was reelected as an independent in his own right in 2018) - the other four are made up of two Tories, a UKIPer and a Lib Dem councillor. One of the tories, the UKIPer and the Lib Dem will be up for election in May - whether any of them try and hold onto their seats as independents remains to be seen. www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/politics/new-political-group-launched-fareham-after-councillors-clash-leader-sean-woodward-2084138
