Next May will be for a third of the council as usual, so don't see how it more "pointless" than any other year? 2021 would have been the fallow year so it seems a bit pointless.
You seem to agree with the government, that democracy is pointless activity, very disappointing.

Quick question - is the Reading election on the old boundaries still happening in 2021? Sees a bit pointless if the council is then all out in 2022. Not really, it's only because of Covid that it didn't happen last year, it would have been last year anyway. I expect there to be legal challenges over the silly boundary arrangments anyway.

The councillors elected in 2021 will only serve 1 year until they have to stand again in 2022. That seems a waste of time and resources. I would either extend the existing councillors' terms for another year or bring the all out forward from 2022 to 2021

Yet another reason partial renewal for local councils should be scrapped.
