Joe Anderson is only 62?! He's had a hard paper round. He had a previous life playing Fred Elliott in Corra.

When I heard the details on the radio my immediate thought was: T Dan Smith Mark Two!
(while not believing anything until determined by due process, etc.)

I didn't realise that Skinner and Stalin's granny (aka Joan Maynard) were right behind Kinnock as he spoke - a poor bit of TV management as they sat on their arses at the end and did not applaud the speech. Or, arguably, a brilliant piece of management. Glenys in the row behind looked wonderful, as ever....

I looked up Kinnock on Wikipedia thinking he can't be 72yo. Then I remembered who appeared in the audience. I recorded BBC's coverage of the 1986 Grand National and kept various parts. One part was when the broadcasters and the public were giving their tips. One person was I think backing Northern Bay because he'd seen Derek Hatton and felt that if could get in (I think into power) anyone could.
The Times say the other three are Derek Hatton, Joe Anderson's son David and Andy Barr the council’s assistant director of highways and planning,

Dr DJ has written a short paper about Liverpool and PR for its local elections:-
It is possible that a change in the electoral system could see a change in allegiances. Also possible a splintering of parties and independents of various colours.

It's possible, but the methodology isn't exactly what you'd call convincing.

I can't imagine this will help the Lib Dem cause in Liverpool: Supposedly, no one there reads the Sun so will they even know about it?

Kelvin McKenzie, supposedly the villain of the piece, left the editor's chair at the Sun in 1994. Just sayin' ...
