They are. And Liversedge and Heckmondwike both had professional teams once upon a time. Quite the hotbed. It's quite amazing how many professional teams vanished. Take the 1901-1902 season. The winners were Broughton, with Runcorn third. The Lancs competition (which curiously featured Hull KR) included the long-dead Lancaster, Birkenhead, Altrincham, Radcliffe and Stockport. Yorkshire had Manningham (now Bradford City AFC!), Heckmondwike, Goole, Liversedge and Sowerby Bridge. Whatever happened to Bramley? Coventry had a fairly short-lived pro team, of course, and a book could be written about the many attempts to get established in South Wales ... The new Cov team are quietly doing well, quite a nice place to go for a game (they share with Coventry RUFC). Bramley went to amateur, in fact they reformed- the directors of the old club, in a familiar tale, shafted them by selling their ground for housing and tried to move them round West Yorkshire. Weird place, Bramley- an old core with a very Sixties build stuck around it. A bit like Andover and Basingstoke!

Yes, I'm aware of the Coventry Bears, and I've been to the Butts Park Arena a few times as a Moseley (RU) fan (we've even won there, once in a memorable game where the ref - Luke Pearce, then very young in his career and now on the international panel - awarded us three(!) penalty tries despite the disapproval of the home crowd). It did have a dreadful pitch, which turned into a mudbath after a light shower, but I think they've had work done on the drainage since.

Bramley resigned from professional rugby in 2000 to become a feeder club to Leeds; something that didn't work out.
A fans club Bramley Buffaloes now plays in the Yorkshire Men's League.
