Are you sure she’s not LGBT that is very odd Hebden Bridge is the Lesbian Capital of Britain. I know. It therefore follows that there should be enough lesbians around to chair the LGBT society.

I’m currently in Hebden Bridge. In fact I’m loitering outside the “Valley Organic Workers Co-Operative”. It looks very woke indeed, as does the Levain Sour Dough Bakery next door, where the other half is shopping (my eyes rolled - *how* much for a loaf of bread?! so I was sent outside). The “Free Palestine” stand was already set up around the corner - and this is a Sunday morning. I’m guessing this place is very, very comfortable with Corbyn’s Labour.... my boss lives in Hebden Bridge, she is the chair of the LGBT society there though not actually LGBT herself.i know she's not a tory but couldn't say if she was a corbynite How can the chair of the LGBT society not be LGBT?

The 2000 results were a bit flukey. Candidature patterns/issues in St. John's. The Labour fallout in Mixenden. Very low turnouts. Losing control in 2002 - some bad press re the development of Halifax and money spent on consultants. Swing of the pendulum back to Labour. Not taking control since - difficult when you're in government. The redrawing of the Halifax wards. Mishandling Wellesley Park Barracks/new school issue. Personalities and fallouts. Thanks for that. I had an inkling there'd been some infighting, maybe unfavourable demographics from a discussion in another place years back. Without checking I think the Conservatives selected an Asian candidate in St. John's in 2000, which might partly explain how they won there. Halifax's profile from the pre-2005 election edition of Robert's Almanac (which can be viewed on Google Books) paints a very encouraging picture from the Tories' point of view, based mostly on the 2000 results. 15 years later they're still being kept at arm's length. I'd been thinking of creating a profile myself but was puzzled by all this, despite being a frequent visitor of Halifax (although never a resident, unless you count Queensbury. )

My university had a very wierd setup where political clubs had to pick a member of their executive to be part of the executive of the LGBT society, which in some cases, were not LGBT, to ask as a liasison between the LGBT society and politics. Both sides thought it was daft.

There is a 26 year old on the young Labour national executive. I find this completely insulting to the idea of 'youth'.
