Londonwide list

Would it be better if all 25 AMs were just elected from lists? From my (admittedly non-London) point of view, basing the constituencies on Boroughs seemingly guarantees malapportionment, and they seem too large for representatives to properly address the concerns of their constituents.

Bring back the GLC. Nice profile pic btw.

Nice profile pic btw. I liked this at first but actually - lets just abolish the GLA and run London like a normal metropolitan county with police, transport and fire committees, etc.

The idea with the Assembly was that its members were supposed to think of London in a strategic way and not really supposed to be geographical representatives; the only reason for having constituency AMs was to ensure a reasonable balance across London rather than having them all come from the centre.

Increase the number to 26 and have FPTP elections in each borough. The Mayor or a delegate can break ties.

There are 32 London boroughs. But they are not the same size - Kingston and RBKC are tiny, Barnet and Croydon are massive.

Oops didn't realise that. Knew Sutton and Croydon, Merton and Wandsworth and Greenwich and Lewisham were constituencies and assukee there were 26 based on that.

No - Len Duvall reselected. Sakina was shortlisted for Lambeth & Southwark but withdrew to take her chances on the Londonwide list. Seems like a wise move.

He'd have been better off pushing for the Brexit Party to become the Reform Party and standing for that.

Presume he's not doing that for the same reason as Veritas, An Independence from Europe, Abolish the Welsh Assembly etc. were set up. Personal differences with La Farage Talking of Farage - you get the odd tweet, but he seems to be very quiet at the moment. I assume he is biding his time to see what happens with regard to Brexit - because he is still viewed as something of a one-trick pony. I had thought that he would have been waiting in the wings to respond to current events, but as I say, that doesn;t appear to be happening

the public is still to pro-lockdown for it to be worth Farage saying anything yet.

Farage is too busy circling the white cliffs of Dover in a dinghy.
