Stockton is an easy Ind win. They don't give exact figures on twitter....it's something like Ind around 800 Lab 270 UKIP 135 Con 85 LD 18
I guess we may have to wait for the council website being updated tomorrow morning.

Worth pointing out that the H&F result is the second to show a significant pro-Labour swing (and the previous one was a Tory seat, suggesting it isn't just a matter of them strengthening in their "heartland" areas) This indicates a "flagship" Tory council could yet be put into play next year......

There does seem to be some evidence that seriously right-wing Tory councils are often less popular than bedsores, yes. And of course the Berry Hill result is promising wrt the County Council elections: it's in the West Dean division lost in 2009 (and only barely held in 2005).

Tetbury TC - Con 452, UKIP 290 (Con gain from Ind) Eastwood TC (South ward) - LD 831, Lab 227, Ind 221 (LD gain from Lab) Maybe an explanation (at least partly) of Labour dreadful result in Eastwood ...they didn't appear as Labour on the ballot paper www.broxtowe.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=26698&p=0

But what many Tories miss is that they have been the exception rather than the rule down the years........ As a once resident of Wandsworth the fact that the council/poll tax was seriously low rather than just tinkered with at the margin was popular. And they did the harsh cuts less visibly. Regarded as good locally on street cleaning and rubbish collection.

Westminster under Shirley Porter was also obsessed with street cleansing. It was a point they made (in a rare approach to electioneering, in a subtle way) by regularly putting contrasting pictures on Conservative election addresses of clean streets in Westminster compared with litter-strewn streets in Camden or Brent, overlaid with the respective Poll tax or council tax rates.
Those days are long gone and street cleaning was cut savagely in the recent round. In the most recent benchmarking Westminster was the third worst Borough in London for number of unacceptably dirty streets.
